The Five Major Aspects
Tropical zodiac, Western astrology
Western astrology has relied on five major aspects since ancient times, and these are the ones the app switches on by default.
Conjunction (0°)
Two planets share the same spot, so their energies merge into one. It is intense and hard to miss. Whether the blend feels smooth or edgy depends on how well the two planets get along.
Sextile (60°)
An aspect of opportunity. The two energies cooperate nicely, but someone usually has to make the first move. Picture a door left ajar: step through and you benefit, ignore it and it simply passes by.
Square (90°)
A tense angle with real friction. The two planets pull in different directions, which can feel like pressure or frustration. Yet squares are the aspects that push people to act, and strong ones often build discipline and drive through working past obstacles.
Trine (120°)
The smoothest flow of all. The planets share an element, so their energies understand each other without effort. It often shows up as a natural gift you do so easily that you barely notice it. The caution is comfort: with no friction, there can be little push to develop further.
Opposition (180°)
The two planets sit on opposite sides of the chart, like a seesaw that takes turns going up and down. You may see one side clearly in other people or in outside circumstances while overlooking it in yourself. The lesson of an opposition is balance, owning both ends.

Open the aspect table on your natal chart page to see which planets form which angle and how many degrees from exact. Start with the tightest aspects, since they tend to be the most noticeable in everyday life.
