Leo decan 1: the decan lords of both systems

Tropical zodiac, Western astrology

Leo decan 1 · ราศีสิงห์ เดแคนที่ 1

Chaldean decans

Leo decan 1 covers 0°00′–9°59′ of Leo, the first ten degrees, where the sign begins. In the Chaldean system each ten-degree slice has a lord called the face, and here it is Saturn.

Saturn as face lord gives the start of Leo a serious edge. Warmth is real but kept in check: you want to be seen, and you also fear being seen getting it wrong. Performance is prepared, rehearsed and judged strictly, and a rough draft is rarely shown. Respect is valued more than applause, and praise that comes too easily is not trusted. Creative work here tends to be slow to begin and well finished once it is out.

A planet here tends to emphasise self-discipline in front of other people. In practice, you rehearse the talk three times, show only the finished version, and would rather skip the stage than be seen stumbling on it.

Triplicity decans

Leo decan 1 covers 0°00′–9°59′ of Leo, the first ten degrees, where the sign begins. In the triplicity system its sub-sign is Leo itself, so the lord is the sign's own ruler, the Sun.

Leo in its plainest form. Warmth, loyalty and the wish to create something with your name on it are all in the foreground. Presence is strong: you light up a room, or want to. Pride is quick, and so is generosity. Of the three parts of Leo this is the one that most needs to be seen doing what it loves, and the one most hurt by being ignored.

A planet here tends to emphasise self-expression and creative pride. In practice, you put time into the part of a project that is visibly yours, enjoy a lively room, and go quiet when a good effort goes unnoticed.

Note

The two systems count in different ways, so their results can differ; they do not contradict each other.
