How to cast your chart in the app
- Casting needs no account. On "Saved charts" press "New chart". A guest's chart is temporary: it works everywhere but is not saved and is gone when you close the tab or the app. You can hold 1 at a time.
- Fill in "Birth date and time" and "Place of birth". If the time is truly unknown, switch on "Birth time unknown". Then open "Calculation details" to check the time and coordinates used.
- On Home, the card for the active chart shows a small wheel and the big three: Sun, Moon and Ascendant.
What is a natal chart?
Your birth chart, also called a natal chart, is a map of the sky for the exact date, time and place you were born. The app calculates it on your device from your birth details. Once you have a chart, you can also look at how the sky is moving now and how it touches your own map. Those moving patterns are called transits.
The three building blocks
- Planets (including the Sun and Moon) describe what is acting: a drive, a need, a way of thinking.
- Signs describe how it acts: boldly, patiently, curiously, tenderly.
- Houses describe where in life it acts: home, work, relationships, learning.
Start with the big three
- Sun sign: your core identity and what you want to grow into.
- Moon sign: your emotional nature and what makes you feel safe.
- Ascendant (rising sign): the sign on the eastern horizon at birth, describing your style and how you meet the world. It needs an accurate birth time.
Frequently asked questions
Can I cast a natal chart for free, without an account?
Yes. Without an account you can still cast charts and read them; free membership unlocks every feature. A guest’s chart is temporary: it is not saved and is gone when you close the tab or the app. Create a free account to save charts to your account and open them on the web and your phone. An account saves the number of free charts shown on "Saved charts"; each chart after that uses credits, and the app shows how many before you save.
Can I cast a natal chart without my birth time?
Natalora supports an unknown birth time. In that case the chart is calculated for 12:00 noon on your birth date, houses and angles are left out because they cannot be trusted, and the Moon is shown as approximate, since it may have been up to about six or seven degrees either side of the noon position.
An unknown-time chart is still meaningful. Sun sign, planet signs and most aspects remain valid. You simply lose the Ascendant, the Midheaven and the house placements.
Which zodiac does the natal chart use, tropical or sidereal?
Natalora uses the tropical zodiac by default. In the chart options you can switch to sidereal and choose between two ayanamsas, Lahiri and Fagan-Bradley. Both give an offset of roughly 24 degrees from the tropical zodiac; they differ by a fraction of a degree.
Neither system is more true than the other; they are different frames of reference. Pick the one that matches the tradition you are learning, and stay consistent when you compare interpretations.
