Capricorn decan 1: the decan lords of both systems

Tropical zodiac, Western astrology

Capricorn decan 1 · ราศีมังกร เดแคนที่ 1

Chaldean decans

Capricorn decan 1 covers 0°00′–9°59′ of Capricorn, the first ten degrees, where the sign begins. In the Chaldean system each ten-degree slice has a lord called the face, and here it is Jupiter.

Jupiter as face lord sits in a sign where it is not at ease, and the start of Capricorn shows it as ambition that wants a purpose to justify it. Goals are large, but the caution of the sign slows how fast they grow. The question what is this for gets asked of every plan, so projects tend to begin with a reason rather than a rush. Mentors, institutions and long-standing methods are respected and also examined for whether they still serve their purpose.

A planet here tends to emphasise ambition that looks for meaning. In practice, you write down the goal and then the reason behind it, and you drop a project that cannot say what it is for.

Triplicity decans

Capricorn decan 1 covers 0°00′–9°59′ of Capricorn, the first ten degrees, where the sign begins. In the triplicity system its sub-sign is Capricorn itself, so the lord is the sign's own ruler, Saturn.

Capricorn in its plainest form. Structure, responsibility and long-range goals are in the foreground. Effort is steady, speech is economical, and trust is built by being reliable over time. Warmth is there, but it is shown through duty first. Of the three parts of Capricorn this is the one that is most at ease with a plan that takes a decade, and the most uneasy with being praised before the work is done.

A planet here tends to emphasise discipline and ambition. In practice, you plan the career or the course years ahead, say little, and are the person others call when something needs to be done properly.

Note

The two systems count in different ways, so their results can differ; they do not contradict each other.
