Planets in signs and houses
Mercury in Aquarius
Tropical zodiac, Western astrology
Your mind is independent, original and forward-looking. You are drawn to systems, theory, technology and ideas that serve the community, and you enjoy reasoned debate and differing viewpoints. Watch for certainty that you are right, which stops you listening, and for speech that is too cool or abstract. Give concrete everyday examples and ask how listeners feel. Your cutting-edge ideas will land more firmly and gain companions.
Mercury in a birth chart
Mercury is the planet of mind and message. It describes how you gather information, think things through, speak and write, and how you learn. In myth it is the messenger who moves between worlds, and in a chart it shows how you connect ideas and people.
Aquarius at a glance
- Element
- Air
- Modality
- Fixed
Aquarius is fixed air. Its traditional ruler is Saturn and its modern ruler Uranus, a blend of principle and surprise. With the Sun here, you stand a little apart in order to see the whole, and you tend to think in systems, futures and shared causes. Your ideas can be original, and your loyalty to your own convictions is firm. You are friendly yet unwilling to be pinned down, a person who belongs to groups on your own terms.
