Planets in signs and houses
Mercury in Sagittarius
Tropical zodiac, Western astrology
Your mind sees the big picture and loves large ideas. Philosophy, law, travel and learning across cultures draw you in. You speak openly and optimistically, but may neglect small details or draw conclusions wider than the evidence supports. Your frankness can sound harsher than intended. Check the facts one more time and add some words of sympathy so your sweeping ideas reach the listener better.
Mercury in a birth chart
Mercury is the planet of mind and message. It describes how you gather information, think things through, speak and write, and how you learn. In myth it is the messenger who moves between worlds, and in a chart it shows how you connect ideas and people.
Sagittarius at a glance
- Element
- Fire
- Modality
- Mutable
Sagittarius is mutable fire, ruled by Jupiter, the planet of growth and belief. With your Sun here you look toward the horizon: the next place, the bigger idea, the answer to why. You need room to roam, in geography, in thought or in belief, and you tend to feel cramped by small, fixed frames. Your outlook is hopeful, and your enthusiasm often arrives with a question about what it all means.
